A Pembrokeshire perspective on the Climate Emergency as regards national, regional, and local policy; also, I hope to record progress – fingers crossed – on my own renewable energy generation & storage projects.
By eliminating household or small business fossil fuel consumption we can

  • cut running costs
  • maximise self-dependence
  • help reduce Welsh carbon emissions
  • show how green technologies benefit users and system suppliers
  • help make the economy sustainable, transforming Wales from heavy importer of fossil fuels into major exporter of truly green energy.

The last point is so important: Wales has abundant renewable resources and a relatively small population. Not enough, therefore, for the Welsh Government to aim for net zero emissions: morally, this country only pulls its weight by fully exploiting those green resources to export clean energy. And if Wales owns the equipment and infrastructures, its economy will benefit hugely.

Note – I won’t pursue some projects for financial return: I wish to test ideas nobody else has tried; and the experiments might be fun whilst teaching one a lot! Because while we need to get on and stay on a war footing if civilisation is to survive the Climate Emergency, people fighting a war must make the best of it and, indeed, maintain a sense of humour. And humans need distractions, too; so not all my posts will be deadly serious.
