A ship bone!

There was, of course, all manner of plastic
stranded on the Albion Sands tideline today;
but I didn’t collect any rubbish
because there on the shingle beach
was also one of Albion’s oak ribs,
unmistakeable with its jointing pegs.
Getting it up the cliff and carrying it back to the car
was quite some travail;
but I couldn’t leave it there
for fear some ignorant visitor might
light a beach fire and throw it on!
Bristol paddlesteamer ALBION,
