Garden archaeology

Digging my new potato patch turned up pottery
(and broken glass and old iron and…).
Lady Nightingale
took the haul home for washing and sorting;
a formal montage is on its way,
but meanwhile this arrangement of hers is well worth sharing!
The patch, just after I’d finished levelling it with the stone rake:
very pleasant to finish the job with a blackbird singing,
the moon rising,
and Celtic Heartbeat (BBC Wales) on the radio.
My stone rake: such a useful tool!
I understand that those you come across in Pembrokeshire
could well have originally been local anthracite miners’ tools.
