Love of apples/Apple of Love

Possibly my last apple-related posting this year! Anyway, as the village shop has been closed this summer I have been giving apples away outside the house, and have had many delighted takers; but, Hoorah!, the shop has now reopened, so that’s the end of my giveaways – as I don’t want to be depriving them of potential fruit sales. So the first picture is the “display” as was on a dry day – as soon as the rain came, of course all the chalk washed away; but I contend that that was the greenest way of labelling the varieties.

This morning was so sunny and calm for a while, I even managed a short sunbathe; and I noticed a Red Admiral doing the same on my compost heap. All Autumn they have been feeding off the rotten apples tipped there; but I had not seen any for a while, and assumed that it was au revoir until next year – not so, apparently!

And finally… I meant to add this last week. One of the rude “bum fruits” of my recent posting, viewed from on top: what a difference 180 degrees make!
