One of the main architects of Thatcherism i.e.
– flogging the national assets family silver at absurdly knock-down prices;
– blowing all the UK oil & gas revenue on tax cuts, and to hell with a sovereign wealth fund like Norway’s;
– letting foreign companies and states own and control crucial UK infrastructure;
– not caring when profit is, in corporate constitutions, legally given priority over provision of service…
…And, of course, an arch climate change denier. Responsible with others, thanks to some very questionable funding, for delaying by many years the UK investment in energy efficiency and renewable energy – which allowed other countries to take the commercial lead, and get themselves in a much better place, strategically.
