Seaweed shredding

As explained previously, best to collect dry weed. Fetching it wet, you mostly carry water – not an active ingredient!
Anyway, dry weed shreds beautifully; indeed, really dry it pretty much granulates in a compost shredder, ready to break down fast.  I mulch it above planted seeds confident of seedlings pushing through.
A small disadvantage: shredding very dry stuff, bits fly about – especially on breezy days. My cure…?  Catch the shred in a woven sack tied over the discharge chute.
In case you’re wondering – I’d never shred wet weed.  A sticky smelly process, I fear, steeping the machine in corrosive gunk; and I picture fibres accumulating within, everything brought to a possibly expensive halt.
Always, full safety gear; the surprise bonus on warm days, thanks to magical chemistry – a subtle aroma of grilled bacon!

Seaweed, nicely fragmented by the shredder; a second pass would render it more like a meal.
