Spring tides

Managed to get to the very far end of my local beach, last week – only rarely accessible. Even rarer, there wasn’t a northwards rip running, so as the sun was out I had to have a quick swim. Unfortunately, there was junk along there to haul home, quite a good shoulder load: two fish boxes from Zeebrugge and an anonymous buoy.

According to records, not only was Kon-Tiki II scrapped in 2009 but this indeed shows her on final journey to the breakers – good riddance, as far as I’m concerned!
The first time I’ve found an “Internet of Things” fish box: bar code, QR code, radio frequency tracking tag!
…All very clever, but it didn’t stop the blasted thing ending up in the oggin.
