Swimming off the rocks

Developing the sketch I posted on 16th August.
I’ve moved my viewpoint: once I’d decided that I would just have one figure out of the water and two in, the original sketch composition – which had featured numerous figures – would have resulted in an overpowering expanse of rock backdrop.
I decided back home on a 16″ x 16″ square format; I cut the panel from some marine plywood recovered after the wreck of the yacht Captain Fantastic (Gateholm, February 2019). White acrylic primer + raw sienna glaze.
Took the panel down to the location on Monday evening (31st Aug), set out the composition in pencil…
And then, of course, had a swim!
Many thanks to a young lady by the name of Molly who kindly posed as a “scale giver”.
