Lockdown haircut

The last outside job today before it got too dark:
I should have pruned this pear tree
a lot more in the last few years.
I think the old term for what I did to it this evening
is “de-horning”;
certainly many of the branch ends I removed
looked like really ragged antlers!
Everything in the barrow came off this rather exposed tree:
it should be much more comfortable
the next time we get a strong and gusty blow.
I prefer to burn fruit tree prunings, lest they harbour disease;
in any case, at this time of year
all the orchard trees appreciate a generous serving of wood ash.
